New partner family!

Clinton County Habitat for Humanity would like to welcome Rosa Martinez and her children as our newest partner family! Rosa has 6 children, 5 of which will be living with her in the new home. Rosa has been employed at the Open Door Clinic and Humanitarian Community Services. She has had a couple of setbacks recently when she suffered two strokes at the end of June. Rosa is recovering, and is doing rehab in Indianapolis 3 times a week. Please join us in wishing her a speedy and complete recovery!
This house will be a partnership between us and the Frankfort Building Trades class. It will be at 1303 John Street in our subdivision. Ground has already been broken, and work has begun. Please consider making a donation to our organization. We have been working on several projects in the last couple of years, and we've had quite a bit more money going out than coming in. We need to dig ourselves out of a hole and get back in the black so we can continue to provide decent, affordable housing for the people of Clinton County. If you have any questions about this project, or any others that we're working on, please call Steve Mullen at 765-242-6877, or email him at sjmul@sbcglobal.net.

Some work at the Colfax house

Here is a brief video of a few things going on at the Colfax house a while back. Just click on the arrow at the bottom left of the picture to play the video. The dark clip is Jeremy crawling around under the house. If anyone has any pictures or videos of work done on any Habitat project (past or present), information about or pictures of partner families or dedication ceremonies, or details of any upcoming events, please email them to me at ploughe@geetel.net. I need some material to work with. I'd like to get enough stuff on here so we can send a link out to the churches and other groups. Some may just be interested enough to start volunteering. I'll take any ideas or information you might have. I would appreciate any help you can give me! Thanks!

What we're currently up to (as of 3/11/09)

We have been working on a home at 58 Main Avenue in Frankfort since November of last year. This is an older home that we purchased and have been remodeling for Dana Bartley and her three children. There has been a lot of progress on this home, but we still have some work to do. We would like to finish it sometime later this spring. If you would like to help on this home, stop by any Saturday from 8-noon, or call Steve's cell anytime during the week to set up a time to help.

We have also purchased a home at 502 West Jefferson in Colfax, and work is just beginning on it. This home will be remodeled for Misty Pierce and her two children. You can also contact Steve or Jan if you are interested in helping with this home.

We have a new partner family that will be starting their work hours with us, and hopefully will soon move in to the house at 403 Baldwin Court in Frankfort that we finished last fall. This house is in the North Meadows addition off John Street. We will share some more information about this family soon.

Please join us to help make a difference in our county. We can use your help! Whether you are an accomplished carpenter or a complete novice (like me), there are things for you to do. There are lots of other ways you can help us even if you're not handy. We'll try to list some of our other volunteer opportunities at a later date. Please check back to our blog occasionally. We'll try to keep you up to date with what we're doing, and how you can help. Thank you!
